“Well, what if the dollar collapses?”

Our family had been talking about news story after news story, hard things, when one of us remarked,, “Well, what if the dollar collapses?”

To which my son, Ben, said, “Well that might be a good thing as it would surely bring revival to this country as hard days often do.”

And, honestly, I thought to myself, “Would it? Is our crazy world too far gone? “

But then, I read in Isaiah this morning, the words God spoke to the prophet Jeremiah as He brought calamity and judgement upon His people, Israel-

“Behold, I am the LORD, the God, of all flesh. Is there anything too hard for Me“ (Jer 32:27)

Is economic collapse, or pandemics, or riots, or wars, or persecution?

Is anything too hard for God to bring good from?

I am reminded this morning that God is very much in control and uses hard things to bring about salvation and revival.

For in the very next chapter, God tells His people, “Call to me and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things you do not know.” (Jer 33:3) and then makes the prophetic promise about the coming Savior (Jer 33:15-18).

Yes, our God uses hard times to draw hearts and minds to Himself. I want to remember that and quickly hope in that eternal perspective like my son does.

And if we, as Christians, truly believe that this life is not all there is, we should want God to do just that—to do whatever it takes to bring the lost to Himself.

We should want every heart possible to praise His Holy Name-for their good and His glory! No matter what it takes!

For one day Jesus will return. That day will come like a thief in the night (Rev 16:15)

Our Savior tells us to look for birth pains. (Matt 24). Oh friend, go read Matthew 24 ! Does this not remind you of our days?

Though we do not know the hour (Matt 24:36) our Lord is certainly coming for His Bride!

And He tells us to be ready. (Matt 25:1-13)

Are you ready?
Are those you love ready?

Are you living with the HOPE that one day all these troubles will be no more and every tear will be wiped away for those whose names are written in the Lambs Book of Life? (Rev 21)

And if you have that hope are you telling others about the Soon Coming King?

Oh that our hearts might find peace in the hope of Heaven, with eyes on eternity, and may our tongues truly endeavor, in this day, to tell of our King!

  1. Kim…We have been thinking the same things in today’s crazy mixed up world. I have started praying for God to do whatever it takes for our loved ones to know Him. We are looking up for our Redeemer! Thank you for always sharing truth and reminding us our hope is in Christ alone…Love you dear friend!
