It’s 3am and I’m here thinking there won’t be colonoscopy prep in Heaven! Good grief, this is not fun!
But this, is actually a very small problem compared to the trials many in this hard world are walking through.
I’m reminded of something God laid on my heart a few years ago as I watched some I know walk through very hard things….
But in them I saw peace.
Rock-solid peace.
I’m telling you it’s real in them!
You know what else I saw as I’ve observed those I love walking the hard roads with peace?
One thing is NOT there!
It’s not there in one single one of them who truly have peace like a river—and that is blatant disobedience to God.
Maybe you’ve noticed this too in those who have peace in the hard times?
Though they don’t like or understand their circumstances, they are still seeking to follow God in them.
They know there is no peace to be had outside of the will of God.
They believe it is in obedience that they are covered in the shadow of His wing.
But then there are others I see,
who walk, not according to the Word,
but according to their own feelings.
When trouble comes, they walk in flesh-filled fear.
They take things into their own hands and seem to reason their circumstances somehow exempt them from obedience to God, and they end up with more trouble than they ever imagined.
They have no peace.
Sad to say, especially in our culture lately, I often see some parents, forsaking their peace as they parent with their feelings instead of standing on the truths of Gods Word.
They give into their kids, going against godly principles in order to “protect their relationship” while allowing their children to walk further and further into destructive lifestyles.
So many, who say they trust God for their eternity, don’t trust God enough to follow Him when it comes to their children.
But, those who truly trust in God, those who seek to obey Him each day and choose to follow Him over their feelings, they are blessed and go from strength to strength.
Indeed,
“Blessed are those whose strength is in you,
in whose heart are the highways to Zion.
As they go through the Valley of Baca they make it a place of springs; the early rain also covers it with pools.
They go from strength to strength; each one appears before God in Zion.
O Lord God of hosts, hear my prayer; give ear, O God of Jacob! Selah
Behold our shield, O God; look on the face of your anointed!
For a day in your courts is better than a thousand elsewhere.
I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of wickedness.
For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor.
No good thing does he withhold from those who walk uprightly.
O Lord of hosts, blessed is the one who trusts in you!
Psalm 84:6-12
Yes, those who trust Jesus more than they trust themselves, their peace is like a river!
