Let’s remember and let’s encourage one another!

It’s sad and scary. The Parable of the Marriage Feast.

Jesus has told several parables about His coming to earth to save sinners (Matt 21-22), when we come to this one about a King preparing a great marriage feast for his son and sending out invitations.

But the people, “they made light of it.” (Matt 22:5)

They went their own ways, doing their own things, and “they made light of it.”

I immediately think of those who ignore Jesus and run to every form of debauchery instead.

But the people who made light of this in this parable were not said to be up to their eyeballs in immoral behavior, but were taking care of their farms and businesses.

That’s curious to me.

With that, I think we all need to ask ourselves, “Am I making light of what God has done for me?”

The writer of Hebrews says, “ Therefore we must pay much closer attention to what we have heard, lest we drift away from it. (Heb 2:1)

Oh, how our hearts are prone to drift away and need to be reminded—

“For since the message declared by angels proved to be reliable, and every transgression or disobedience received a just retribution, how shall we escape if we neglect such a great salvation? “ (Heb 2:2)

Oh friend, how can we get over what Jesus has done for us? How can we so easily become distracted and consumed with ordinary things?

But we do, don’t we?

But when I’m still, I am in awe.

For, “What is man, that you are mindful of him, or the son of man, that you care for him? You made him for a little while lower than the angels; you have crowned him with glory and honor, putting everything in subjection under his feet. Now in putting everything in subjection to him, he left nothing outside his control. At present, we do not yet see everything in subjection to him. But we see him who for a little while was made lower than the angels, namely Jesus, crowned with glory and honor because of the suffering of death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone. (Heb 2:6-9)

The One Who sees all, died for us, and nothing is outside of His control.

May, we who believe this, not make light of it. May our lips daily tell of His goodness and May our feet be quick to follow His commands.

For our God is good and powerful and coming again

“For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore encourage each other with these words.” (1 Thess 4:16-18)

Let’s remember. Let’s not make light of so great a salvation! For the King is Coming!
