Are you hiding too?

Someone recently told me to “Stop hiding behind your God” when I would not agree with them, that something God clearly calls sin in His Word, was not actually sin.

I know this person intended to insult me with the choice of words, but oddly, I felt myself almost smiling at the thought.

For I am doing exactly what he said. I’m hiding behind my God —the God Man whose blood covers me because He took the wrath of God, the wrath I deserved because of my sin, upon Himself.

I’m safely standing under the shelter of His wings (Ps 91:4), as close to Him as I can get, and asking Him to direct every step (Prov 3:6).

His Word guides me. It is a lamp for my feet and a light for my path. (Ps 119:105).

His ways are better than my ways and His plans for me exceedingly, abundantly more than I can ask or imagine. (Eph 3:20).

He will not leave me nor forsake me (Deut 31:6), but will complete the good work He started in me, and will bring it to completion at the Day of His return (Phil 1:6).

And when the world looks crazy, when right is called wrong and wrong is called right (Isa 5: 20), when there are wars and rumors of wars and earthquakes and division of families (Matt 24), when the world turns against Israel and there are alliances as never before (Eze 38-39), I remember that Day of His return is certainly coming!

So, you better believe I am absolutely hiding behind my God!

He died for me knowing every ugly thing I’ve ever done or will do!

He conquered death! He knows every hair on my head and tells me not to be afraid (Luke 12:7).

He calls me the apple of His eye! (Psalm 17:8) and tells me to keep His Word as the apple of mine (Prov 7:2).

I trust Him more than I trust me! That means I seek to follow what He says in His unchanging Word. He who created the Universe has certainly controlled what is written there.

But, “Woe to those who are wise and shrewd in their own eyes!” (Isa 5:21)

“Their end is destruction, their god is their belly, and they glory in their shame, with minds set on earthly things. “ (Phil 3:19)

But those who follow Christ (and not this world or some false god they’ve designed in their own image who happens to agree with them all the time) —for those hiding behind God, “our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself”. (Phil 3:20-21).

So, yes, I’m hiding behind my God! I’m absolutely hiding behind Him and I’ll keep hiding behind Him! For there is no other Name by which we can be saved! (Acts 4:12)
