Understanding the gravity of our sin is the first step to freedom.
Let’s stop with the cheap grace. Let’s stop sugarcoating sin.
It has never helped anyone to think their sin isn’t that bad.
Let’s be real.
Let’s be honest.
The only real help, and hope, for anyone is to know Jesus saw you at your absolute worst.
He knows the deepest, darkest ,ugliest thing you have ever done.
Maybe that was an abortion. Maybe as you listen to the world argue over it right now you’d like to agree it’s “fine”, “not a big deal”, even a “right” you deserve, but deep down, you know it is far from anything good.
Deep down, you wish you could forget all about it.
It’s plagued you for years like it has so many others.
Sin does that.
And while, I’ve never had an abortion, I can tell you my sin has been deep, and dark, and ugly.
And maybe like so many, like me, you’ve done things you hope no one ever finds out about…maybe you’ve tried to forget it with a drink, or a pill, or a relationship with someone who will make you feel good about yourself.
But as hard as you try, no one, nothing, no temporary high, no other human , can take away the memories you have ,of when you, believed something, said something, did something, you never thought you would.
And as much as you wish those feel-good sermons sugarcoating your sin, telling you “you’re enough” were enough…deep down you know it’s not enough, far from enough, and you come up empty again and again.
But when you finally come to the end of yourself, and your excuses, when you finally confess your sin to the Savior…light begins to BREAK IN!
Jesus sees it all. He saw it ALL! Yet, He still chose to love you, and forgive you, and walk to that Cross to pay what you, or I could NEVER pay!
Oh friend, my sin was DEEP, so DEEP, but GOD’s Grace is DEEPER! (Rom 5:20)
None of us have out-sinned God’s ability to forgive!
Oh, let’s don’t cheapen the grace by excusing our sin! Not any of it!
He knows! And He still forgives when we confess our sins! And He still loves! (1 John 1:9)
The truth is, she who has been forgiven much, she loves much! (Luke 7:47)
And oh! how I love HIM!
Because He keeps loving me knowing all I’ve done and will ever do!
And He will keep doing the same for you, too. He’s that good.
“Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord”. (Acts 3:19)
“Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord.” And you forgave the guilt of my sin.””(Psalm 32:5)
