Here I Am

Like many of you, our family is incredibly upset over the assassination of Charlie Kirk. My kids are especially upset. Charlie was of their generation, but my 80 year old mom also listened to his podcasts all the time.

Charlie was a bright light. He loved Jesus and he loved people. He knew the Bible and applied it to the public square in an incredibly, winsome way. Many foes became fans.

But many were also enraged. A quick perusal of social media will yield a disgusting barrage of those celebrating his murder—many of them teachers, professors, and healthcare workers.

But why?

This is actually not surprising, for Charlie Kirk courageously took Biblical principles to the public square and especially the public square of college campuses.

A little research will tell you that our educational system (and especially the colleges of medicine and eduction) have been inundated by funding from anti-God families and institutions.

Charlie went into the proverbial lions den, and the demons behind these institutions were enraged.

Charlie Kirk was killed for espousing truth from the Bible. This was far more than a political assassination.

Charlie lived 1 Peter 3:15 – “but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect,”
‭‭
Charlie did just that. He was incredibly prepared. Few among us have been able to articulate Biblical truth in such a winsome and convincing way.

But I pray this will change and why would it not? Why wouldn’t God allow Charlie’s martyrdom to inspire revival in our land?

For our God, who does not change, has He not allowed the death of His saints to grow His Kingdom as little else?

Will God not use what the enemy (and we have one) intended for evil to bring good again?

Can we pray for that?
Will you pray for that?

Oh, may God raise up thousands of Charlie Kirks. May He awaken those who have been asleep!

May those who have been straddling the fence see the evil forces at work among us and fully surrender to the One True God.

May God bring revival in my heart, and yours, and have mercy on our country. May Charlie’s death not be in vain!

May every one of us truly pray to daily live the words that Charlie so often wore on his t-shirt “ Here am I “ (send me) Isa 6:8.

  1. Amen and amen. Every word you wrote resonates. Yes. Revival. This morning my readings led me to the book of Ecclesiastes. Chapter 11:3.
Indeed. God is in this. This can be a Turning Point for all. Praying that it is.
