As I lay praying this morning, I found myself telling the Lord how very hard it was to watch those I love walk in things that I know are, or will, hurt them.
It’s gut-wrenchingly hard.
Then, it occurred to me, that God certainly knows how very hard this is.
I wasn’t informing Him of something He didn’t know (as if I could).
No, He’s intimately aware of my early morning, fumbled, sleepy, prayerful complaint and has been since the beginning of time.
God knows it’s absolutely heartbreaking, and frustrating, to watch those you hold dear willingly walk in things that hurt them.
But this I also know, as we painfully watch this, we can better understand the unconditional, merciful, long suffering love of God the Father.
What great love!
How much easier would it have been for God to turn away from what surely grieves His heart —our sinful selves!
But He didn’t!
Thank God He did not!
He is not!
No, WHILE we were yet sinners, God sent His Son to die for us! (Rom 5:8)
Can you imagine? Could you send your child to die for someone caught up in themselves, and sin, who had never given you a thought?
But that’s exactly what God did!
“You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him!
For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life! Not only is this so, but we also boast in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.” (Rom 5:6-11)
How we think we understand what it is to love others?! What about our enemies ?
How much more does God love them?
How much more does God love us that while we were sinners, yes , His enemies too the Bible says, that He would die for us?
May we hold onto this hope! May we boast in this hope! May we love others with this hope! May we praise Him with this HOPE!
Let’s dont turn away. Let’s dont give up and stop praying!
Our God saves! We can know that because He saved us!
What a Savior!
