Have you noticed this in your life?

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” (Heb 11:1)

My NKJV commentary says, this is not a definition of faith but a description of what faith does.

Hebrews 11, could be entitled, “Faith Does” and gives us example, after example of those, who, because of their faith treated things “hoped for” as such reality that it affected their actions.

Abel, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Sarah, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Moses, Rahab, and others…

It’s the same faith as the likes of Corrie Ten Boom, Jim Elliott and Dietrich Bonhoeffer.

Is that my kind of faith?
Is it yours?

That kind of faith believes an invisible, all-good God created the universe (Heb 11:3) AND is AT WORK in it.

Those discouraged, early believers, who would first read Hebrews, needed to believe that same invisible God of the famous faithful before them, was still, very much at work in the hard world of their new-found faith.

And all these thousands of years later, our hearts also need to remember that same wonderful, invisible God is at work in a thousand million ways we cannot see too.

And if we really believe all that, it should compel us to diligently seek God each and every day.

Because that same God, who is at work, says He rewards those who diligently seek Him (Heb 11:6).

Pay close attention to that last word… and let’s be careful.

We are to diligently seek HIM but so many get stuck or walk away from God because what we are really seeking is a god who will do the things we want Him to do, when we want Him to do them.

But that’s not God. His ways are rarely our ways. They are so much better. (Isa 55:8-9).

Oh friend, have you seen His better-than-your-ways in your life? I sure have! And if you have too, will you just comment “yes” below as a word of testimony?! Let’s encourage each other that way.

And isn’t it true that when we diligently seek the One True Real God…for Who He is more than what He can do for us… that’s where the REAL REWARD COMES!

No fixed circumstance, no temporary worldly possession, nor any human relationship can compare to a closer walk with the One True God Who forever loves us perfectly and unconditionally.

Oh friend, may our hearts seek HIM in this day, and may we love and trust Him more tomorrow than we do today! ❤️
