I’m concerned about our country. But I’m not without hope!

There is so much evil in this world. A recent poll said, nearly one in three Democrats hoped the bullet would have taken out our former president.

What? How far have we fallen?

And though most Republicans I know do not wish their political opponents to die, they are compromising on issues of life and marriage.

When did we lose our way to stray so far as a nation from upholding biblical principles?

I’m deeply concerned about the evil in our country that my kids and grandkids will face.

But I’m reminded again where my hope, where our help, comes from—

John has been talking about false prophets and antichrists, then he says, “You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you, is greater than he who is in the world.” (1 John 4:4)

That’s powerful truth. It’s one of my favorite, keep-you-going, verses.

The Holy Spirit inside of us,
God with us 24/7,
will help us refute lies,
overcome trouble,
and walk in victory,
all the way Home!

We will be able to discern truth.
We will be drawn to it.

But let’s note one thing about the Holy Spirit inside of us.

John recorded the words of Jesus about the job of the Holy Spirit in his gospel -“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.” (John 14:26)

Did you see it? The Holy Spirit is our helper and our teacher, and He will remind us of what Jesus has already said to us.

And in order for the Holy Spirit to remind us of what Jesus has said to us, so we know the way to take, we need to hear Jesus say things.

And where do we hear Him say things?

The very best place is reading the Word of God!

If you are not deliberately sticking your nose in your Bible every day and pulling in truth, you, dear friend, are not doing your part in this relationship with Christ; and you may be susceptible to being deceived into thinking wrong things are right.

But when you are in the Word, the Holy Spirit will remind you of what you’ve read. You’ll know truth so you can walk in it and guide your kids in it.

You will be able to discern truth from error as it comes at us all day long in this world!

You will be able to stand up for good and against evil and you’ll be able to influence others to do the same.

John said, “We are of God. He who knows God hears us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.” (1 John 4:6)

Oh friend, we can know. We can stand confidently on the side of truth. We can walk in victory.

May we seek the Lord through His Word and may our ears hear the Holy Spirit reminding us of what the Lord has said and how to walk in this hard world.

And He will do it! At just the right time! In the very moment you need it! (I know some of you are shaking your heads, “Yes!” because you’ve experienced it!!)

Oh praise the Lord who speaks and helps us know right from wrong and be light in this darkness. He is our hope! May our ears hear His voice and may our tongues tell of His goodness and better ways!
