I don’t want this to sound snarky and mean it most sincerely…but the truth is you may be frustrated with Christianity if you have invited Jesus into YOUR life.
You know like, “come be a part”.
Perhaps, even like the demons, you recognize Jesus as the Son of God (Matt 16:16) and you reason you could use a little Jesus in YOUR life.
You’ll pick and choose what parts of YOUR life He can be involved in.
You will be inclined to expect Him to act like you want Him to act; and you will get irritated when He doesn’t behave, and even meddles in the areas of your life you’ve not invited Him.
You’ll become angry when He has the audacity to outright disagree with the ways of the world that are, in your opinion, acceptable.
You’ll expect Him to change.
And He won’t.
You’ll find it ridiculous that He actually expects you to follow Him and do what He says even when you don’t like what He is doing or understand where He is going.
Yes, if you’ve invited Jesus to only “be a PART of YOUR life”, you are probably not going to like how it works out for you.
Because, here’s the truth, it’s really not all about YOU!
God has always been upfront about that.
It’s His story. It’s about His glory.
Yes, it is seeker friendly and an easy “ask” to invite Jesus to come into your life and talk only about pretty, worldly blessings for the “heavy on grace” and “light on truth”, popular churches of our day
But the unpopular, hard, REAL truth of salvation is, Jesus is asking you to deny yourself and your ways and follow Him in His ways. (Matt 16:24).
And the crazy, BEST part is when you finally SURRENDER ALL of your life to Jesus that’s when you get ALL of Him.
You get the King of Kings! The Most High God! The Mighty in Power and FULL of love Jesus!!! HE is the trustworthy, ALL-GOOD ONE!
When you lay down your ways to His ways, you get His peace that always surpasses your human understanding.
When you keep your eyes on Him, you get hope far beyond what your human eyes can see.
And you get JOY! You get real JOY that is not dependent on your earthly circumstances!!
Oh friend, the One who loves you perfectly wants ALL of you!
And there is nothing better than giving Him ALL of you and truly following Him!
For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it; but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.—Matthew 16:25, NASB
TRULY find it!
