Words from the Old Preacher Teacher

I needed to read these words from the old preacher-teacher, Oswald Chambers, today (pictured with his daughter)–

“Put Trust in God First. Our Lord never put His trust in any person. Yet He was never suspicious, never bitter, and never lost hope for anyone, because He put His trust in God first. He trusted absolutely in what God’s grace could do for others. If I put my trust in human beings first, the end result will be my despair and hopelessness toward everyone. I will become bitter because I have insisted that people be what no person can ever be- absolutely perfect and right. Never trust anything in yourself or in anyone else, except the grace of God”.

I needed to be reminded of this.
Right now.

In our world, where people I hoped would not fail have done so.

I also need to be reminded of this as I pray for the lost and the prodigal. My hope is not in their ability to get their life right. My hope and absolute trust is in what God’s grace can do for them.

This hope is also NOT in what I can do or say, but what God can do and say.

God.
Not me.

His Kingdom is powerfully advancing.
His Spirit is still, very much, at work.

My job is to be His vessel.
My job is to seek Him first-not my ministry, not my family’s well-being, but HIM!

My daily goal is to die to self and let Him fill me up to overflow into the lives of those around me.

He is the potter.
I am the clay.

God determines the way I should take. And only because of Him might anyone, or anything, turn out as gold.

His grace is enough.
His way is perfect.
And nothing is too hard for Him!
