This world does not look as it did only a few years ago ago. What is wrong has become much more acceptable and even celebrated.
But you know, every person we encounter, those who believe differently than us, those who so flagrantly and increasingly fight for things we know are biblically wrong, still, were made in the image of God (Gen 1:27)
Oh they may look different, vote different, and call wrong things right, but still, if we ask the Lord to give us His heart for them…we can see glimpses of His image in them.
And if we pray, if we ask God to help us to see His image in them, because we know all were created in His image, we are more readily able love them as He does.
And we know He loves them because his Word tells us, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life”.(John 3:16)
With this in mind, may God give us eyes to see others as He sees them.
May He help us regard no one according to the flesh (2 Cor 5:16) but may we look to the substance of the heart.
Everyone we encounter either has a heart that knows the Lord or needs to know Him.
May we daily pray for the Lord to help us love the unlovely, run toward the broken, forgive those who deliberately hurt us and remember He wants to use us to point even those who misunderstand us and hurt us toward Him.
Because of Jesus, we can love people who do wrong things.
This absolutely does not mean we call wrong things right, or stop speaking truth, because this is also part of loving others —but we must always check our motivation.
May our prayer be “ From now on, therefore, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we once regarded Christ according to the flesh, we regard him thus no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation.” (2 Cor 5:16-16)
Everyone we encounter either knows Jesus or needs to know Him. May we see them with His eyes and love them with His heart.
