You can recognize it, you can agree with it, you can talk about it all day long; but if you fail to practice truth and follow the ways of God…. you will never have peace!
Paul, is in essence, saying, “Don’t just observe the Christian life, LIVE IT! Live it, like I’ve lived it! That’s where the peace is!” (See Phil 4:9)
Friend, understand , don’t forget, when Paul wrote this letter he was on house arrest for living the Christian life! And the peace of God was STILL FULL in him! (See Phil 4:9).
It was enough! It was more than enough! It was so very much enough that Paul was encouraging others to LIVE TRUTH to have peace!
Paul will famously write later in this letter that he has learned to be content no matter what (Phil 4:11).
Don’t you want NO MATTER WHAT PEACE?!
It will never come from a distant, observational, relationship with the Lord. It only comes when you trust Jesus enough to surrender all you know of you to follow all you know of him in every way!
Peace grows as you read the Word and APPLY it to your life.
This is what the Lord’s little brother, James, was talking about when he said, don’t just be hearers of the Word, be doers! (James 1:22)
It’s true , the more you apply the Bible to your everyday life, the less you will fit in with this world. God is upfront about that! (1 Pet 2:11)
But, it’s also true, that the more you live for Christ, the more you will find yourself being content no matter what your circumstances. (Somebody say “Amen!”)
It’s a supernatural thing! It’s God in you! It’s peace that makes no earthly sense. And it is good! So very good! ❤️
Is it easy? No, not really. But is it worth it? Most definitely. Let the redeemed say so and live so!
