Used to, I knew people who printed out Philippians 4:8 and sat it on top of their televisions. This helped them test what they were viewing.
But, I’m not so sure many do that today. I’m continually amazed at the garbage Christians mindlessly consume…The Bachelor, Yellowstone, Fifty Shades, (and before I came across verses like Phil 4:8, I mindlessly watched some garbage too).
I know, I know, I like to relax and veg out too. I love pajamas, fuzzy blankets, popcorn and a great show; but friend, we’ve got to choose better. It’s a lie to believe we aren’t impacted by what we choose for entertainment.
Almost every program seems to be trying to program us to believe wrong is right. Have you noticed this? Even those sappy Hallmark Christmas movies seem to have an agenda today with the inclusion of same-sex couples.
The more we consume music, movies and television without discretion, the more likely we will be to allow sin to creep into our lives without notice. (see Rom 1:28-32). This is just a fact.
In yesterday’s post,I mentioned, in this battle for peace, we have to pay attention to our thinking, and what we expose ourselves to, because as my husband said to our kids over and over again as they were growing up, “garbage in = garbage out”.
It is a lie of the enemy to believe what you put into your mind does not impact you!
Why do you think companies spend so much money on advertising?! It’s a proven fact that your thoughts impact your actions!
Remember that Proverbs verse again! “As a man thinks, so he is”! (Prov 23:7)
Let’s test everything-including the cartoons our kids watch (look out, because they often have agendas too) and even the curriculums being taught in our schools.
I’m so thankful for parents who get involved and stand up to immoral school boards who are indoctrinating our kids with all kinds of ungodly ideas.
Yes, evil is all around us. God told us in Genesis, “sin is crouching at the door. Its desire is contrary to you, but you must rule over it.”(4:7)
If we are serious about protecting ourselves and our families from the enemy’s schemes, let’s ask the Lord to open our eyes to any area of compromise in our lives.
Let’s ask Him to help us see things as He does and hunger and thirst for righteousness. The Lord tells us in His Sermon on the Mount, to do so is to be blessed and satisfied (Matt 5:6)
Every day, every way, let’s choose God’s better way for ourselves and our families…all the way Home.
