It was a small circle of women. Just a few. We had gathered to pray for revival in our country and our world.
These were church women, ministry leaders, and pastors wives.
The talk was light at first. Ballgames and bagels. But soon tears showed up as the conversation shifted to stories, one by one, of the work the Lord had been doing to rend hearts of sin.
The stories were hard. Some were still in the thick of the battle, but as I listened, one of them, literally, almost choking on her tears, read from the book Daniel about the God, whom she knew was with her in the fire.
It was a holy moment.
And once again, I knew, the same evil one who has attacked individuals, families, ministries, churches, this country, and our world is NO MATCH for our God. He is the God who brings the fires of revival, that burn away the weeds of sin, so beautiful things may grow.
He is the same God who stands with His children in the flame.
Through tears, shaky hands, and quivering voice, one who had turned from sin, and was holding tight to God, who has not seen her family restored or her circumstances fixed, picked up her Bible and read these words. As she read, her voice grew stronger and her head lifted higher.
The words she read were ancient words, words uttered thousands of years ago by those facing fiery trials in the midst of a world controlled by evil forces.
Their words, became her words, and our words.
And not just words, but marching orders for Christians everywhere who are concerned about where our world is headed—
“Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego answered and said to the king, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter. If that is the case, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us from your hand, O king. But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we do not serve your gods, nor will we worship the gold image which you have set up.” (Dan 3:16-18)
Oh world, no matter what you throw at us, no matter how much you call wrong right and right wrong, WE WILL NOT SERVE YOUR gods!!!
God’s children will not bow down to the prince of this world because we know our God is greater!
He is with us! He will stand with us in the fire! (Dan 3:25)
Because of Jesus, the Eternal King, who has defeated death, the enemy has no power over us . He, who is in us, is, indeed, stronger than he who has temporarily seduced this world (1 John 4:4)
Oh lost world, know this, we serve the King of Kings, the God immortal, eternal, the only wise God. (1 Tim 1:17)
Because of Him, we hold tight to faith and a good conscience and fight the good fight ! (1Tim 1:19)
For we, who follow Jesus, stand on the side of victory with the Savior who has come to proclaim good news to the poor, open the eyes of the blind and set the captives free! (Luke 4:18)
There is nothing too hard for Him! No weapon formed against His children will ever stand! (Isa 54:17)
His Kingdom is powerfully advancing!
Oh lost world who seek to set up false teachers for your itching ears, there is only ONE TRUE GOD!!
HE is with those who call Him Lord! He will not leave or forsake us! (Deut 31:6)
Oh Christian, May we daily put on our spiritual armor, may we hear His Word, accept it, and may we bear fruit! (Mark 4:20)
May we love the unlovely, May we bless those who persecute us so they might see the God who stands with us in the fire!
For all glory, honor and power belong to our King!
May we remember, when things look dark, when friends forsake us, when the world hates us, that we are not of those who turn back but those who have faith and are saved ! (Heb 10:39)
And one day, every tear will be wiped from our eyes! All things will be made new! And we will hear the words, “Well done my good and faithful servant.”
And, one day, we will cast every crown at the feet of the only One worthy of praise!
Worthy! Worthy! Worthy is the Lamb! The Soon Coming King!
