I literally woke up this morning to these lyrics playing in my head,” I lift my hands to believe again You are my refuge, You are my strength. As I pour out my heart, these things I remember. You are faithful, God, forever.” (Chris Tomlin, I l Lift My Hands)
Then, I thought about Daniel. How he must have lifted his hands over and over to remember.
We know from reading the Word, Daniel was a man who prayed.
But he was also a real man…let’s don’t forget that.
He had been captured. He had been taken from his family and friends.I wonder, was there a girl back home he had his eye on? Did he miss his siblings? Did he have a dog that he longed to pet?
Daniel was a real person with real feelings.
Some scholars believe he was made a eunuch before he was brought to Nebuchadnezzar’s palace to be a slave. Let that sink in.
So, as we read about Daniel’s bold faith in God, let’s remember his circumstances were far from ideal. His heart must have mourned for his home. His future was dismal and uncertain.
But Daniel continued to seek the Lord and walked in obedience to His ways.
Daniel continued to trust God despite his circumstances.
And God gave Daniel and his three friends just what they needed and when they needed it. “As for these four young men, God gave them knowledge and skill in all literature and wisdom; and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.” (Dan 1:17)
And that same God, the God Daniel lifted his hands to and remembered, has not changed. (Num 23:19)
He will give His children just what we need when we need it. You can take that to the bank!
Yes, our flesh will feel pain that comes our way in this life.
But God.
He won’t leave us.
He will be with us in the storms.
Let’s continue to seek Him, obey Him and lift our hands and worship Him!
“Be still, there is a healer
His love is deeper than the sea
His mercy, it is unfailing
His arms are a fortress for the weak
Let faith arise
Let faith arise
I lift my hands to believe again
You are my refuge, You are my strength
As I pour out my heart, these things I remember
You are faithful, God, forever
Be still, there is a river
That flows from Calvary’s tree
A fountain for the thirsty
Pure grace that washes over me
So let faith arise
Let faith arise
Open my eyes
Open my eyes
I lift my hands to believe again
You are my refuge, You are my strength
As I pour out my heart, these things I remember
You are faithful, God
You are faithful, God, forever.”
-Chris Tomlin, I Lift My Hands
“I Lift My Hands” is a wonderful song of worship and praise!
I woke up this morning to this old hymn in my heart, “”Nothing But the Blood of Jesus!”
I seem to be remembering the old hymns/songs of my youth! They have been ministering to me greatly during this season of my life!
