Has God given us over to our debased minds (Rom 1:28)?
The results of our election are about so much more than gas prices and the war in Iran.
It is about much more than President Trump, Democrats or Republicans, or even socialism versus capitalism.
As a nation, just like the biblical nation of Israel, that so many Americans now blame for their problems, we too have chased after false gods and bought their lies.
Our culture has called wrong things right but so have many of our churches and many of us.
We’ve sat idly by while millions of babies have been sacrificed on the altars of self and convenience.
We have supported schools and universities who teach our children lies that they, not a Holy God, can determine their gender and that evil ideologies like socialism and Marxism can bring them peace and hope.
We have enthroned ourselves to determine what is right and wrong based on our feelings instead of God’s Holy Word.
Many, who call themselves Christians, have literally made the beds for our children to sleep with their unmarried and gay lovers—believing the lie that this is loving them.
We’ve trampled biblical truths and compromised in every facet of society—not just politics but in our churches and in our own families.
Are we really surprised by the results of this election?
Surely, if we’ve read our Bibles, we are not.
Why would God not give us over to our perverted, feelings-based, self-defined truths and false gods who will never satisfy?
Why would He continue to shed his grace on a country that has trampled every blessing He has sent her way and profaned His Holy Name?
Will He relent in giving us over to the punishment we so justly deserve?
Will He relent if we would but repent?
Are His mercies still new every morning?
Are there any who are faithful?
Even ten?
Can the fires of revivals still be flamed?
Would our hearts turn to Him once again in reverence and fear?
Would we forsake our idols of comfort and convenience and our tongues possibly find the courage to call wrong things wrong?
Would we cast aside our addictions to the praise of men and our wobbly knees stand for what is right and true?
Would God once again shed His mercy and grace upon us if we would each confess our sins and run to Him turning from our wicked ways?
Certainly, His mercy is still new every morning for all who will forsake this world, refute its lies, and follow Him.
God is Holy and cannot lie (Heb 6:18) He cannot forsake His own (Ps 94:14).
We have been offered the most costly of grace through the blood of His precious Son.
Would those saved by the precious blood of the Lamb remember that?
Would we fall to our knees in prayer and ask the Lord to revive us again? Not for our comfort but for His glory! For He alone is good!
And even if these dark days get darker, would the redeemed of the Lord purpose to be light in the darkness?
Would we, in this breath of a life, truly seek to give God the honor of our obedience and the glory He alone deserves with eyes on eternity?
Would we?
Oh Lord, please have mercy on us! You, alone can save!
