Ministry is hard. There has been more than once I’ve wanted to stop sharing about Jesus, and pull away, and just love those who are easy to love and believe what I believe about the faith and the Word.
Recently, I’ve been tossing and turning with thoughts of escaping to a desert island, because, as someone once said, ministry would be great if it didn’t involve people! 🤪
In all seriousness, our family has been wrestling with hard things too numerous to tell.
But God.
The other night, as my husband and I watched Mission Impossible looking for a mental break (mind you, we rarely go to movies but we heard this was clean and good) they kept repeating the line, “We keep going for those who are dear to us and those we will never meet”.
“We keep going for those who are dear to us and those we will never meet”.
And it hit me, that line is so much the reason we seek God daily and share Him with others.
It’s for the Kingdom.
It’s for God’s glory.
Yes, I knew this, but I needed to be reminded again. God is so kind to do that and even use a secular movie to do so.
Then, the next morning, as I slowly read 1 Timothy, the Enduring Word commentary talked about how Paul gave Timothy several reasons to stay in ministry despite the difficulties—
-Because they need the truth (1 Timothy 1:3-7).
· Because you minister in a hard place (1 Timothy 1:8-11).
· Because God uses unworthy people (1 Timothy 1:12-16).
· Because you serve a great God (1 Timothy 1:17).
· Because you are in a battle and cannot surrender (1 Timothy 1:18).
· Because not everyone else does (1 Timothy 1:19-20).
Some have quit.
Some have walked away.
But, how can we? For those who have tasted the goodness of God, where else would we go? To whom else would we turn? (John 6:68)
So we keep on in this mission, that often seems impossible, for those we love and those we may never meet (like our great grandchildren) who will be impacted by the choices we make today to follow Christ and tell others about Him.
Is it hard?
Oh, my goodness yes!
Is it heartbreaking?
Yes, sometimes.
But are others worth it?
Certainly!
And is our Lord, who commands us to go and tell (Matt 28:18-20), worthy of our obedience? Absolutely.
All glory to Him-for those we love, and those we may never meet ❤️
