You are an OVERCOMER if you BELIEVE this…

And YOU are an overcomer…if you are born of God, if you believe—

“For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?” (1 John 5:4-5)

In the day to day, this overcoming belief looks like believing and continuing to believe in a way that causes us to obey and continue to obey and trust and continue to trust.

This means we are intentional to keep our hearts and minds focused on the OBJECT of our faith so we can hold on to truth and walk in victory.

And as John has emphasized throughout this letter, this focus is to be on the God Man—Jesus who came in flesh and blood—

“This is He who came by water and blood – Jesus Christ; not only by water, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit who bears witness, because the Spirit is truth. For there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one. And there are three that bear witness on earth: the Spirit, the water, and the blood; and these three agree as one.” (1 John 5:6-8)

John is talking about the Trinity, the “three in one” (1 John 5:7), who “agree as one” (1 John 5:8) and their testimony is greater than any witness of man (1 John 5:9).

To not believe God is to call Him (the three-in-One Trinity) a liar (1 John 5:10).

Furthermore, The Great I Am does not need us to prove Him. Our belief in Him is our proof, our life, and our confidence to keep believing in Him—

“And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.“ (1 John 5:11-13),

I believe Jesus came to earth as a human baby. He lived a sinless life. He willingly laid down His life on a cross so that His blood would cover my sin. I am saved to live forever with Him in eternity in the presence of The Holy God. 🙌🏻

I believe this and I keep believing.
I trust and I keep trusting.
I demonstrate my trust and belief in Him by my obedience to His Word.

This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent (John 6:29): “Jesus first and foremost commanded them (and us) not to do, but to trust. If we want to do the work of God, it begins with trusting Jesus. “(Enduring Word commentary).

How are you trusting Him today? Let’s pray for each other!
