God’s children look different than the rest of the world. The world doesn’t really know, understand, or celebrate us, do they?
John told us, “Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God. Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him”.( 1 John 3:1)
In fact, we often feel (or should feel) like we just don’t fit in. (That’s why Peter calls us strangers, 1 Pet 2:11)
But that’s okay! Because our time is coming. One day our eyes will behold the One who died for us!
John writes, “Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.”(1 John 3:2)
Can you imagine?!
What will it be like to be like Him? What will it be like to no longer fall to sin? What will it be like to have only pure thoughts? What will it be like to have a new body? No more pain! And, will we be able to walk through walls but still look like ourselves?
Oh, I’ve imagined what it might be like but it “has not been revealed” —that is a marvelous mystery for God’s children to await.
And what will it be like for us to “ see Him like He is” ??
Let your mind try to go there! Can you imagine being able to behold His glory and not die? Can you imagine running into His arms? Can you imagine trying to thank Him for what He’s done??
But you know, we don’t have to wait. We can thank Him, and should thank Him every day, for what He has done! I love this song that draws my heart to praise.

And you know, it’s as we praise Him, as we look to Him, as “we hope in Him” (I John 3:3) that we can keep our eye on the prize that we concern ourselves less about fitting in here in this world and more about being fit for the next.
“And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.” (1 John 3:3)
