It doesn’t have to end!

It’s Christmas Eve. I don’t want it to end.

The twinkling lights, the hugs from family, the familiar carols, the smell of cookies baking in the oven, the flickering candles, the beautiful presents wrapped in bright expectation…..

The moments of Christmas-time are some of my favorites I have ever lived.

I expect they will always be. I truly love this time of year.

There is a certain sadness, though, that’s hits me on December 24th. For much of the wonderfulness, that we call the holidays, is almost over.

I want this feeling every day, don’t you?

Deep down we were all created with hearts longing to celebrate and to worship every day of our lives.

Every day.

At Christmas, it is still pretty easy, even in the culture in which we live, for those of us who call ourselves Christians to celebrate Christ.

Like no other time of the year, we will proclaim His Name, we will share the inspirational post, we will invite our neighbors and coworkers to the Christmas program.

But then, December 26 comes and some of us will box Jesus up with the Christmas lights.

For most of the year, there will be no mention of the Christ of Christmas, and many will go about their lives without a thought to what they worked so hard to celebrate.

But occasionally, there will be a moment when we will remember that feeling of Christmas and miss the delight we briefly felt when we allowed our heart to do what it was made to do—worship the Savior.

As much as we delight in the holidays, holidays don’t last.

But the truth is, our hearts weren’t made to worship Christmas, our hearts were created to worship the Christ.

What feels so good for a few moments at Christmas doesn’t have to end!

It doesn’t have to end!

Our hearts can delight every moment when they are tuned to Him! That’s what happens when we pick up His Word and let His truth cradle us in His arms.

And that fellowship, we so loved at Christmas-time, can be enjoyed all year through as we come together and worship the Savior! That’s what happens in small groups and Bible studies and church!

Yes, church! It’s encouragement your soul needs and will enjoy!

And the Christ of Christmas is not only Who we need every day of the year but Who others do as well.

His Name was meant to roll off our lips all year through—not just a few days in December. We were created to celebrate Him and worship Him but also to tell others of Him…and not just at Christmas.

Yes, soon tomorrow will come. Another Christmas Day will be here and over….but the delight of Christ doesn’t have to end when we daily tune our hearts to celebrate and worship Him!!

And what a Savior He is!!!
