Jesus continues in His talk about the End of Days, not with a specific date, or hidden calculator as some are inclined to hope, but with parables about being ready (Matt 24:52-Matt 25:13).
He says, “Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.” (Matt 25:13).
Be ready.
Jesus isn’t suggesting we spend all our time as preppers storing up food, but in being spiritually ready.
We are to be about our Father’s business. And that helps me settle down and stop wringing my hands, and remember to keep doing what matters most.
I want to daily point others to Christ.
But before, I can help my family walk closer to Jesus or try to influence others, I have to make sure I’m sitting at my Saviors feet and allowing my heart to be daily tuned to His will.
I’m so easily distracted and discouraged. I’m prone to worry and wander…Lord, how I feel it!
But God. Oh how His Word comforts, and guides, and settles me.
Yes, we are living in some scary days. But God is at work in ways we certainly cannot see. But each day, we can remember the One we cannot see, the One who commands angel armies and keeps His promises is never going to leave or forsake us (Heb 13:5) and will equip us for all He has called us to do (Heb 13:21).
And as we daily draw from His well of Living Water, as we read and obey His Word, He will make us ready for all He has called us to do. And we will be ready.
