Have you ever noticed the enemy’s lies get louder as the trial gets harder?
Somehow in the midst of most every trial there seems to be temptation to go our own way and fall prey to sin and its’ consequences.
Our enemy, the devil, does not fight fair.
In fact, when trials consume us, he turns up the guns.
He especially tempts us to go our own way, and to feel justified in giving in to sin when our trials are most intense.
Please understand the enemy of your soul wants to hurt you more than you are already hurting.
He would love it if you would believe his lies and:
“Get angry and yell at your husband. Who wouldn’t in your shoes?”
“Go ahead and have too much to drink or take that drug or run to the arms of another….that will make you feel better.”
“Go ahead and cheat on your taxes. You need to take care of you.”
“Why not just take the bottle of sleeping pills and forget it all?”
The evil one has come to rob, kill and destroy. (John 10:10).
Expect it.
Look for it.
And ESPECIALLY during your hardest of days.
James reminds us, “But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.” (1:14-15)
DEATH.
But God’s plans are life! And His plans are still good even in our trials!
“Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.” (James 1:12)
LIFE!
Let’s ask God to help us ENDURE and love Him more in our trials! Let’s keep counting on God and following Him with all we have and especially so in the hardest days!
Let’s endure temptation and choose victory!
Oh friend, when life is so hard that you feel like you are going to die….choose to keep following Jesus and find keep-going strength and life!
