Evil doers will not get away with their evil.

Jesus has been talking about persecution when He says, “Therefore do not fear them. For there is nothing covered that will not be revealed, and hidden that will not be known”. (Matt 10:26)

And for those of us who feel like there are persecutors who have gotten away with their wrong-doing, we can rest knowing that our Father in Heaven sees. And, He not only sees, but He will execute righteous judgement. Evil doers will not get away with their evil.

Let me say that again, evil doers will not get away with their evil.

And with that, I need to remember that it is not up to me to exact justice.

Vengeance belongs to our God alone.

The Apostle Paul tells us, “ Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” (Rom 12:19)

I can let it go, you can let it go, and we can let God who is The Righteous Judge.

The Psalmist wrote—

God is a righteous judge, and a God who feels indignation every day. If a man does not repent, God will whet his sword; he has bent and readied his bow; (Psalm 7:11-12, ESV)

Deuteronomy tells us “Vengeance is mine, and recompense, for the time when their foot shall slip; for the day of their calamity is at hand, and their doom comes swiftly.’ (Deut 32:35)

Jonathan Edwards preached a famous message about God’s vengeance (from Deut 32:35) about sinners in the hands of an angry God. This message birthed one of the greatest revivals of all time (The Great Awakening)

The truth of this message is profound. It is sobering to the sinner but also encouraging to those who have been saved by the blood of the Lamb. I encourage you to read it at the link above.

Let’s remember our God will indeed exact justice, but those who have called on His Holy Name shall be gloriously, graciously and mercifully saved.

We should never wonder if God will exact justice. We should only stand in awe of His mercy and Grace toward us! In fact, we should be forever grateful that we were spared because of the Savior who took our sins upon Himself.
