God reveals Himself to us through the rich pages of His Word and not only in the New Testament.
Right after God reveals Himself as El-Roi (the God Who Sees, Genesis 16), God appears to Abram and tells him He is Almighty God (El Shaddai, Genesis 17).
Let that soak in- the God Who Sees is also Almighty God.
God not only sees, He can do something about what He sees.
Because The Almighty God sees everything, and is powerfully able to act, this should cause us to reason that we better do what He tells us in His Word.
God tells Abram “to walk before Me and be blameless” (Gen 17:1) as should all who realize the magnitude of these names of God.
And here’s the thing, as we study Scripture it should impact us. It should cause us to reason and act.
If we can learn about God, and be unchanged, not impacted, we are simply checking off a useless, man-made religious box.
“For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. And no creature is hidden from his sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account” (Heb 4:12-13)
For when the Living Word is allowed to go deep in our souls and motivate a response in us -praise, change, action etc, it is then that we grow in our walk with Jesus.
It is there we learn to trust Him more!
As we allow the Living Word to reveal to us the glorious Savior who loves us so very much, and who can be trusted with eternity and all that concerns us in this day, we become trees planted by streams of living water who bear fruit.
“Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers;but his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree
planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. (Psalm 1:1-3)
What a Savior who is The Almighty God (El Shaddai), The God Who Sees (El -Roi)!!
