The Questioning of Truth. Same Old ATTACK.

So the cunning, evil, serpent (the fallen Satan) questions Eve about what God had really said to her. (Gen 3:1)

He then tells her what God has said is not really true. (Gen 3:4)

The one who has come to steal, kill and destroy is saying the same thing, right now, to you, me and all of this world.

“Did God really say?”
“Did God really mean…”

What’s more, as he did with Adam and Eve, the father of all lies, is suggesting God is really holding out on you and you should just do what seems right to you, what “feels” right. (Gen 3:5).

He suggests, “You can have your own truth”.

I always cringe when I hear someone proclaim, “oh, but this is MY truth” as they foolishly think there is no absolute truth.

Oh yes, there is way that seems right to a man but it’s end is the way of death (Prov 14:12).

Indeed, the evil one has not changed his mode of operation all these thousands of years later. He often begins his attack by getting us to question truth.

Look at this world! Look at the things we are now questioning. (Gender, sexuality, biblical marriage).

Many think if they go God’s way, instead of the twisted worlds’ way, they are missing out.

They believe lies. They call wrong things right and right things wrong.

God said through the prophet Isaiah,

“Wow to those who call evil good
and good evil,
who put darkness for light
and light for darkness,
who put bitter for sweet
and sweet for bitter!
Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes, and shrewd in their own sight”. (Isa 5:20-21)

Woe to us!

Without Jesus, we are a fallen people. We are dead men walking under the curse. We are without hope and deserving of punishment.

Dust we are and to dust we will return (Gen 3:19).

But God.

Right after we had disobeyed Him, there in the garden, when He could have spoken us out of existence, instead, He mercifully clothes us in animal skins. (Gen 3:21)

God shed the blood of animals He had created to cover us.

But more blood would be shed for us. Precious blood. The only blood that could cleanse us from our sin and lift us from the curse.

Oh, the Word is good! And in order to understand all of it, we need to read all of it—BOTH New and Old Testament and this helps us guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus and in truth so we will not fall for the schemes of the evil one.
