God will sustain us to the end (1 Cor 1:8, ESV).
And even after reading those words, the “buts” and the “what-ifs” begin to assault my mind.
Even after years of Bible studies and church attendance, my mind, can imagine circumstances so hard, it feels like God would stop sustaining me.
But the truth is, my scary scenarios are all wrong, if they are contrary to the Word of God.
And God says, He will never leave us or forsake us. (Deut 31:6)
Every day, our minds are capable of coming up with scenario after scenario where we feel like God could let us down.
But, He is with His children. Always.
No matter what comes this “but a breath” moment this side of eternity.
These past two days I’ve cried, I’ve wrestled with fear, I awoke in the middle of the night to my precious husband’s sobs. We don’t like what we are facing with my heart issue. It was never in our plans!
I’ve had scary thoughts, “Are my children prepared to live without me?”
I’ve had sad thoughts, “I’d want my husband to marry again if I’m gone”.
I’ve had silly thoughts, “Like how much money should I still be spending on wrinkle cream?”
But our comfort in all the scary, sad, silly thoughts is this truth—God won’t leave.
We don’t know what tomorrow looks like, but we know the One who died for us, will be with us; and that is incredibly peace-giving when we remind each other of that.
He is our Rescue Story. I woke up at 4am with that song playing in my mind. (https://youtu.be/9Yr48Berkqc)
And I know it’s true because I have seen God be our very present help in times of trouble in the past. (Psalm 46:1)
We’ve seen Him come through in ways we never would have imagined.
So have many of you.
You have story after story!
We’ve seen Him bring blessing from the hardest of days. Again and again! Isn’t that right?
Let me ask you, let me ask myself, “Why would He stop now?”
Does this mean we will be spared hard times? Does it mean we will escape trouble and death?
But it does mean this—whatever we face this side of Heaven, we do not face alone.
The God of the Universe, who is all good, and whose plans for us are good, will give us just what we need in the very moments we need it. (Jer 29:11)
His grace is sufficient for each and every moment and His power is made perfect in our “end-of-our-ropes” weakness. (2 Cor 12:9)
We have to stop imagining that it is not so, and take those wrong thoughts captive to the obedience of Christ. (2 Cor 10:5)
God will keep ALL His promises because He cannot lie. (Heb 6:18, Titus 1:2)
And friend, we all face trouble, or we will face trouble one day. This is why you absolutely need to know truth from the Word of God and hold on to it, and remind each other of it.
Thank you, to all of you, who have been praying and reminding me of the promises of God these past few days. He has used you.
This has been one more way, I feel the nearness of My Father.
He is so good to me.
He is so good to us.
Let’s hold tight to Him today. And then, let’s get up and remind each other to hold tight again tomorrow.
For one day, our faith will become sight! Can you imagine that? !!
Glory! Glory to God! The One who will sustain us to the end!
