Is this world getting you DOWN??

I’m sure every generation of Christians has said it, but this world just seems hard, crazy, to be honest.

I turn on the news, or get on social media, and I’m shocked by what I’m seeing. There seems to be an all-out assault on common sense and absolute truth.

It is even now frowned upon by some to say, there are males, and there are females, and they are gloriously different. (What in the world? 😩)

What’s more, the self-appointed “word police” want us to say things like “birth people” (not mothers) and “chest feeding” (not breast feeding). Hah!

And, if we disagree with anyone it must mean we hate them. In fact, we better not say anything that might offend anyone, unless that “anyone” is a Christian following biblical values.

Speech in our country is no longer truly free, and churches are being restricted.

What’s more, what is preached from the pulpits may soon be deemed “hate speech” thanks to legislation called “The Equality Act”. (Look it up)

On top of all that, we can’t seem to trust what we are being told, as information is manipulated, as never before, for political agendas.

Our government seems to want to control everything and be our substitute god.

The world seems nuts and the enemy seems to be winning.

But you know, throughout the Bible, there are many times when God has made His presence known only after all had seemed hopeless.

Surely, Noah felt stupid for obeying the Lord and building that ark until the rain started to pour. (Gen 7)

Surely, the Israelites thought the enemy was winning just before the Red Sea parted. (Ex 14)

Surely, Moses felt hopeless in the desert until the manna fell from Heaven. (Ex 16)

Surely,David, after being told he would be king, must have thought things were out of control as he sat in a cave hiding from Saul. (1 Sam 24)

Surely, just before the walls of Jericho fell, and just before the sun and moon stood still, God’s people must have wondered if they would be defeated. (Joshua 6,10)

I could go on and on. Just think about the disciples after Jesus died on that Cross. Think how they felt as He lay in the tomb for three long days.

But darkness was defeated, and it is STILL defeated because of Jesus!

Circumstances may cause us to think the enemy is winning. But it has seemed like that is true for God’s people again and again, but we know he is not!!

John tells us in his letter, “For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?” (1 John 5:4-5)

Though the world tries daily to convince us otherwise, those who know Jesus as Lord are standing on solid ground.

Whatever is born of God overcomes the world. It will last. Everything else is sinking sand. It will be proven wrong.

One day EVERY knee WILL BOW. EVERY tongue (including every tongue that lashes out in lies and praises evil) will, one day, confess that Christ is Lord. (Phil 2:10-11)

Note – This is not to be implied as universal salvation, but that the whole world will ultimately “confess Christ’s lordship, either with joyful faith or with resentment and despair.” (Kent)

The King of Kings and Lord of Lords shall reign eternal. The victory is already won.

What’s going on around us is the enemy’s sorry attempt to discourage, discredit, and deceive those who know the truth.

Let’s remember what we know. “Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life. I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life (1 John 5:12-13).

Oh friend, our God reigns! He is at work! Let’s keep our eyes on Him. Let’s be light in the darkness!

  1. Thank you.
I am less apt to get into a depressed mood if I keep thinking of what the Trinity does for one and all, if we let Father, Son and Holy Spirit take dominance in life. My Lifeline!
