He calls himself a Pentecostal worship leader and has garnered loads of attention for a ridiculous tweet where he said,
“Jesus was Christ
Buddha was Christ.
Muhammad was Christ.
Christ is a word for the universe seeing itself.
You are Christ.
We are the body of Christ.”
And the thing is, many who think themselves wise, who call themselves spiritual, have gained fame by peddling garbage to those who do not study the truth.
But we know Jesus is THE Christ. He is the One and only.
The Bible tells us, “The Lord has established His throne in heaven, and His kingdom rules over all.” (Psalm 103:19)
John, who walked with Jesus on earth tells us, “This is He who came by water and blood—Jesus Christ; not only by water, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit who bears witness, because the Spirit is truth.” (1 John 5:6).
Jesus was born a man. He was fully human and fully God. He was crucified, dead and buried and rose again.
Buddha, and Muhammad, and every other man-made god are still in the grave.
And the truth is, no matter how they package it, those who promote universalism, are promoting a dangerous lie.
There are not many ways to Heaven or many saviors. There is only ONE.
John encouraged us to know this and to remind ourselves, and each other, of this.
He said, “He who believes in the Son of God has the witness in himself; he who does not believe God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed the testimony that God has given of His Son. And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.“(1 John 5:10-13, NKJV)
Do you find it curious that John, who saw Jesus walk on water, heal the sick and defeat death would write “and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God”?
Perhaps, John was inspired to write, “that you may continue” because God knows His children can struggle to not be deceived even after they’ve seen Jesus to be Savior and God.
And as the world gets harder, as lies are promoted as truth, as wrong is called “right” and right is called “wrong” and the Day of Christ return approaches, God’s children will have to fight harder and harder to walk in truth and not be deceived!
Matthew told us, “For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. See, I have told you beforehand.” (Matt 24:24-25)
God has told His children what will happen! Let’s not be deceived! Let’s remember He is calling the shots!
And in order to not be deceived, let’s study the Word and diligently train our ears to hear His voice and our minds to remember truth, so we can quickly refute the lies of false prophets who will only increase as the Day of the Lord approaches.
