Paul wrote, “Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good.” (Rom 12:9).
Many Christians today seem to read this as “Ignore what is evil. Call everything good.”
They refuse to exercise any sort of discernment perhaps due to fear of being called judgmental while evil advances without opposition and people, families, and nations are being torn apart.

How often has your pastor addressed any of these areas in the past year? How often have you taught your children how they can know these things are wrong in the eyes of the Lord?
Look, I’m not suggesting it’s easy. I am saying lives, families and nations are destroyed when we refuse to exercise discernment and abhor evil and cling to what is good.
Furthermore, if we remain silent, if we choose to keep our head in the sand, or only speak truth in our own homes, or holy huddles but never the public square, our children and their children may face a country where the freedoms we’ve neglected to exercise are explicitly forbidden.
What if one day your children are not allowed to talk about their faith or truth from God’s Word? If they were to ask you what you did to try to stop this, what will you say?
Oh, I know you are busy. Most of us are. Perhaps that’s why those who’ve never held a real job or still live in their parents basement are the ones marching in the streets or running for office.
Oh friends, may we abhor what is evil and cling to what is good for ourselves, our families, and our country. God’s ways are always good and better!
