“God has dealt to each one a measure of faith.” Rom 12:3
While I know Paul is talking about not getting puffed up when our gifts are different than someone else’s and reminding us we are one body (Rom 12:3-8), it is key to pay attention to what he says at the end of verse 3–“God has dealt to each one a measure of faith.”
We should not get puffed up about how much faith we have but that sly devil will try to convince us we should.😳
The truth is, perhaps my faith hasn’t failed where someone else’s has, but even our measure of faith is a gift from God.
I’m not saying we should not endeavor to help one another avoid sin and sometimes we have some wisdom to share about what God has taught us about avoiding certain temptations. But if we aren’t careful, we can tempted to think of ourselves more highly than we ought.
When those thoughts come my way, when I feel prideful that I didn’t fall for some sin someone else did, it’s often helpful to ask God to remind me of the GRACE He has shown me.
As I remember the sins He has forgiven me, it helps me show grace to others and not fall into the ugly sin of puffed up pride.
And it’s ugly.
But grace is beautiful.
And it’s in the soil of God’s grace that ugly things are redeemed, and temptations and trials become testimonies, and our gifts are used to build up the body rather than tear it down.
Oh, let’s guard our hearts and minds in the truth of God’s Word. ❤️
Let’s be diligent to remember it and apply it today— for our good and His glory!
Oh, what a Savior!
