She turned one yesterday. I wrote this a year ago—
I held her in my arms for the very first time. She’s tiny. Smaller than we expected but, oh, how that little one has filled my heart.
A grand baby.
A grand daughter.
After quite a scare,
safely here.
And this morning, when I awoke, she joined the others, the ones I love so dearly, in my first-thoughts and prayers.
How is she?
Did she sleep?
How’s her mommy?
Then, quickly, my thoughts turned to my boys, my wonderful son-in-law, and Ben’s sweet new bride.
My kids.
My first thoughts.
My first prayers.
It’s just how a momma’s (and now a grandma’s) heart is made.
But a momma’s heart, a momma’s love, cannot begin to compare with that of God’s love for His children.
“For I know the thoughts I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11.
“Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, the days fashioned for me, when as yet there were none of them. How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them!” Psalm 139:16-17.
“Are not two sparrows sold for a copper coin? And not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father’s will. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.” Matthew 10:29-31
God tells us, He cannot forget His children any more than a nursing mother can forget her child. (Isaiah 49:15-17)
And for some, as this world, or your own world seems so filled with trouble, as you are tempted to think God does not see you or care about you, you must remember this is so very far from the truth.
God goes on in the verses in Isaiah above to say, He has engraved you on the palms of His hands.
Engraved on His Hands!
Isaiah’s words were prophetic in that the nails would scar the very hands of our Savior with our names.
Oh friend, a God who would die for you, has not forgotten you! And this world, and your worries, are no match for a God who not only cannot forget about you, but has defeated death and hell!
So this day, this moment, as you are tempted to worry, as the concerns you have for your children that you love so much, flood your mind—remember you aren’t the only one concerned, your Heavenly Father knows, He has not forgotten AND He is powerfully at work.
And that’s no small thing!
What a Savior!
