Let’s speak truth in a world that hates it.

I believe as a country, a church, and as people, we are being deceived by false prophets speaking empty oracles.

The prophet Jeremiah talks of false prophets and empty oracles.

He says the false prophets “walk in lies and strengthen the hands of evildoers so that no one turns back from his wickedness” (23:14).

Doesn’t that sound like our culture today, where sin is rarely called what it is, so that no one will turn back from their wickedness?

There is all kinds of ridiculous wrong going on all around us-and it is rarely called out as evil. But those who seek to speak truth are bullied into being quiet.

Jeremiah goes on to say of the false prophets ,”They speak a vision of their own heart, not from the mouth of the Lord,” (23:16)… and I think of the “feel good, motivational, truth-light, grace-heavy” speeches from popular pulpits today.

Jeremiah goes on to say, the false prophets “continually say to those who despise me, the LORD has said, “You shall have peace” and to everyone who walks to the dictates of his own heart, “No evil shall come upon you.” (23:17)

Does this not sound like our culture today?

“You will be happy when you find your truth.”

But the truth is, when we walk in the dictates of our own hearts, and do what feels right, but what is not in alignment with the ways of God, as individuals or as a nation, there is no peace to be had—but likely only more trouble.

But those who truly care about others will speak truth, based on the ways of God, and will seek to turn us back from our wickedness —the things God defines as sin.

Oh friends, let’s be bold. Let’s find our voices. Let’s stand up for truth for the good of those we love and for the country where they will live long after we are gone.

For the truth is… “there is a way that seems right to a man but it’s end is the way of death” (Prov 14:12).

May God have mercy and bring revival and turn our nation back to Him for our good and His glory!
