The prophet Elijah said to the people —“How long will you falter between two opinions? If the LORD is God, follow Him; but if Baal, follow him.” (1 Kings 18:21)
May our hearts receive those words.
And, just how would you respond to Elijah’s question?
Would you follow a demon masquerading as a false god (Baal) or the God of the Bible?
If God is God, should we not follow Him?
For is it not illogical to consider God powerful enough to create the Universe and defeat death, yet unworthy of complete obedience to the words of Scripture?
But what about the argument that the Bible has been changed? Surely, this is utterly illogical as well! Could a god capable of saving you from death and giving you eternal life not control the words in a book?
If God is God, then He must be followed as Lord. Every word should be believed, and obeyed, and every other position is foolish.
If I believe Jesus is Lord, it produces and desire to know and follow the ways of God in my life, and that is true evidence of salvation.
Let me be very clear—
- If you have no desire to follow God as Lord and Master,
- If you can pick and choose parts of the Bible to follow and ignore other parts,
- If you can walk, as a habit or lifestyle, in what the Bible calls sin, and not think it stinks ….
then Jesus is NOT your Lord, and you are lost.
I was there once, and it is a miserable place to be; and I say this with the utmost of love—peace is found only in surrender to Jesus.
I also say this with an urgency. None of us are promised tomorrow, and Jesus told us that He is coming again soon. (Rev 22:12)
He, alone, will judge the hearts and minds of men. Do you know Him as Lord and Savior, or do you just know about Him? And if He is Lord, follow Him.
