I need to remember this today.
I want to rest again in this today—
So many of us, because of our pride and insecurities, have lived lives habitually seeking the praise of others.
We continually strive for the that which can only ever temporarily satisfy.
We are addicted to the never-enough-one-more-thing: the skinnier body, the bigger house, the better spouse, the more powerful job, the fatter bank account.
Like a drug, the satisfaction of that we attain has increasingly diminishing returns—yet we continue to search for that which alludes us.
“Enough”.
Can we ever have enough?
Know enough?
Be enough?
Will the praise of others ever be enough?
Can that praise heal our wounds and quiet our insecurities?
Somewhere, along the way, we hear about a God who loves us unconditionally.
But instead of running to His open arms, our pride wants to earn His love too.
We desperately want to be “worth it” —we want to earn God’s love; when, in reality, the greatest love is that we weren’t worth it and God poured out His love on us anyway.
God looked upon our sin, our failings, our imperfections…He sees what we try to hide…and He loves us anyway.
He loved us unconditionally all the way to the Cross.
For some of us, the greatest stumbling block to true freedom is holding on to our prideful desire to earn a love that can never be earned.
But true peace and the rest we desperately seek can only ever be found in the un-earnable, amazing, unconditional love of God!
“For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die— but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since , therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God. For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life. More than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation. “ Rom 5:6-11
What a Savior!!!
All praise is due Him!
