Hard things

There are just some things that happen so we can know the Lord in a way we never knew Him before.

And sometimes, that way comes through a circumstance we would likely never choose.

Often our gut reaction is to resist it with all we have and to do all we can to fix it.

But sometimes, it’s just out of our hands.

We prayerfully plea, “But why, God? Why would You allow THIS in our lives when You could simply speak it away?”

Could it be that THIS hard thing is for our good and the good of those around us?

Could it be that we need to lay aside more weight and sin that so easily entangles and look more intently at our Savior…the author and finisher of our faith? (Heb 12:2)

As my heart considers Him: His all-goodness, His unconditional love for me, His mighty power, and His abiding nearness… weariness and discouraging thoughts begin to fade. (Heb 12:3)

My strength is renewed and my heart is emboldened to surrender to all He is doing.

Remembering His intentions are always completely good, I pray and trust Him, once again, with this life He has given me.

He is the potter who works and chastens the clay He loves into His perfect, beautiful design. (Heb 12:6)

May we be clay in His hands. May He work in and through us for our good and His glory.

PS-my daughter and I are speaking this morning at a women’s event and would so appreciate your prayers. May God draw us closer and be glorified. May the words be just as He would have us speak. Thank you!

I’ll be back in Matthew next week.
