Because of Who He is – All of the Word…

As Jesus stands in a city surrounded by throngs of idols, He asks His disciples who others say that He is (Matt 16:13) to which they give various answers.

Jesus presses further and says, “But who do you say that I am?” (Matt 16:15)

Peter famously replies, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” (Matt 16:16).

There is a heart drawn by this verse in my Bible. For to know that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God, has blessed my life and changed my eternity.

But this question, “..who do you say that I am?” Is a question we all answer daily.

For if Jesus is the Son of the living God, then every Word in the Bible must be true and our daily life should be tremendously impacted by what it says.

We should walk in the hope of the gospels. We should truly seek to follow the wisdom of Proverbs. We should be guided and warned by Paul’s letters to the Romans, Corinthians, Galatians, Philippians and Colossians. We should rest in the peace of the Psalms and be looking for the return of our Savior because of Revelation.

All of the Word should matter to us and daily guide how we live.

What’s more, what’s incredibly mind-blowing for Christians, is that the Holy Spirit actually lives inside of us to help us to remember and follow the truth from the Word. Truth that brings both life and peace! (Rom 8:6)

For as we remember, Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God, who defeated death on the Cross, we also find strength to rise above our temporary circumstances in this life and truly be able to say, “It is well with my soul”.

And all of this is far from a religious checkbox as so many like to call the disciplines of the faith. It’s an anchor for our souls!

Someone once said, “All boats look steady when the wind isn’t blowing.” Well, right now the wind is howling in my life and many of yours. But this anchor is holding me steady.

My heart is aching over a family member who is running from the Lord. I know many of you are struggling with similar situations. Please, let’s pray for one another.

But because Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the LIVING GOD, there is HOPE. I have hope! What would we do without this hope?

The Christ! The Son of the Living God sees us. He’s at work. He loves those we love more than we do! Absolutely nothing is impossible for Him (Luke 1:37)! Let’s remember that, and let’s remind each other of that!

Christ is the Savior who’s still saving! He is the steady in the storm!
