Jesus said THIS is the way to come to Him and find rest….

“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” (Matt 11:28-30)

It’s true, we simply can’t do it all, be it all, or fix it all. Can we just admit that?

Paul Washer said, “We rob men of a greater vision of God because we will not give them a lower vision of themselves.”

We really can’t make ourselves happy. We really can’t fix all our circumstances. We can’t control other people. We can’t…

But we CAN come to Jesus when we come to the end of ourselves. The way to the Savior is total surrender. This means we lay down our preconceived ideas, our sin, our control, and we come to Him emptied of trying do it our way.

But it’s a sweet surrender, because we find relief in knowing there IS something bigger than ourselves. It’s Him.

My sister-in-law sent a text this week that simply said, “Our thoughts of Him have been too small”. That’s so very true!

Oh friend, if we could but catch a glimpse of His awesome, amazing, indescribable-ness! Might we never hesitate to run to His open arms!

He is the Most High God and Loving Father. He’s all good and His ways are better than our ways. He controls all, and sees all, and we really can trust Him more than we trust ourselves.

It is exhausting trying to be our own god —trying to manufacturer our own happiness. If we are honest, we can admit we mess that up again and again. It’s too much to try to carry our heavy sins. It’s truly freeing to lay it all down and run to the Savior!

It is may seem odd in our self-confident world, but it is so very true, when we have a lower vision of ourselves, we gain a greater vision of God.

And that glimpse of a an all-good, all-powerful God, who is greater than ourselves, who we can run to instead of all the other things, is where we truly live in joy and peace!
