Stop being stupid

I read a post from a mom yesterday complaining about the youth group requiring a one piece swimsuit for her daughter.

Later, I sat at a baseball game watching a grandpa on the row in front of me literally pausing at scantily-clad young women on his phone. His oldest grandson, two seats down from him was snap chatting a young girl who was almost completely naked.

Our church small group young men were having to turn their heads to try to watch the baseball game and not the pornographic photos on the phones in front of them.

And I got angry. It’s sick. It’s sad.

I’m tired of mommas not protecting their kids. I’m tired of seeing middle schoolers boobs on my Instagram feeds and moms ranting that it’s their right.

What right? To be gawked at by a perverted grandpa or reduced to a cheap thrill by a pubescent boy?

Stop being stupid parents. You are aiding in your child’s destruction. Protect your kids!

Help them know their value is far above external appearances. Teach your daughters to care for themselves and their brothers in Christ and dress in a way that is honoring to the Lord.

Stop buying inappropriate clothing. Check their phones. Stop allowing them to post photos of themselves to be consumed by deviants.

What value is there in that? Aren’t your daughters more valuable than that? And if you call yourself a Christian what glory is it to God to allow this to happen?

And Dads start getting involved. You know better than your wife what is tempting to a man. Protect your families! There are sexual predators around every corner waiting to consume your children. Do you not care?

And what about your sons? Do you not care that they are learning to treat women as only an object on a screen for a passing thrill?

This should matter to all of us!
All of us!

For the more we devalue each other in this way, the further our society will fall into all kinds of chaos.

Societies flourish when we care for each other as the precious images of God we were created to be.

Societies who progressively devalue each other will cease to be great and eventually cease to exist at all. History has proven this and we better wake up before it’s too late.
