Narrow is the gate and difficult is the way”. (see Matt 7:14)
Makes you want to sign right up doesn’t it? 😳
When we choose to follow Christ, we are, in fact, choosing that which the world mocks. We are opting for a hard road full of trouble in this life.
Jesus has always been upfront about this.
But those who seek to know the Lord find Him so very good and worthy of our faith and our following.
For though His ways are often far from easy, we know He is the way everlasting.
David knew this when he wrote in Psalm 139, “Where shall I go from your Spirit?
Or where shall I flee from your presence?
If I ascend to heaven, you are there!
If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there!
If I take the wings of the morning
and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,
even there your hand shall lead me,
and your right hand shall hold me.
If I say, “Surely the darkness shall cover me,
and the light about me be night,”
even the darkness is not dark to you;
the night is bright as the day,
for darkness is as light with you.(verses 9-12)
He ends Psalm 139 by saying “lead me in the way everlasting” (verse 24)
Oh friend, this life is indeed short. Our troubles will soon be no more. One day every tear will be wiped away for those who call Jesus Lord. Our faith will become sight! Let’s keep reminding each other of this! Let’s keep our eyes on the One who is absolutely faithful and true!
The King is coming!
