Beware.
Paul said, “Beware”.
“Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ.” (Col 2:8)
The false teachers of Paul’s day were combining worldly philosophies with the gospel and people were being deceived.
This deceit is still very much happening today. These teachings, Paul warns, are “not according to Christ”.
They may have a ring of truth, or sound good on the surface, but when tested against the truth of the Word, they are contradictory to what the Bible actually says.
Those who peddle these philosophies are sly. They are convincing, but when tested against the Word, we see the “truths” they peddle are actually not biblically sound. (CRT, BLM, LGTQ+ movements to name a few).

These movements deceive and divide. Their author is not the Lord, but the father of all lies who has come to rob, steal and destroy. (John 10:10)
To avoid stumbling and being confused by these these divisive and destructive philosophies, and others that will surely emerge as we approach the end of days—we need to seek truth—truth Paul describes as riches and treasures in the earlier part of chapter two. (Col 2:1-3)
This sacrificial seeking of truth in the Word leads to a steadfastness (Col 2:5).
You will be able to walk steady through the storms of this life – no longer children, “tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes.” (Eph 4:14)
It is there, as you seek truth through opening the Word, day in and day out, God will give you the wisdom you need for all that comes your way in this world.
This seeking of God and His ways through the Word will yield blessing to you and to those you love.
What’s more, the Holy Spirit will take what you read and remind you of truth at just the right time!
Have you ever felt something you were hearing didn’t seem right then had a verse just “pop” to your mind? ❤️
Have you ever felt the comfort of truth when you faced a crisis? ❤️ Have you ever known God was giving you peace when it made no earthly sense to have it? ❤️
Praise God we have the Word and the Spirit! Praise Him for these treasures!
Oh, let’s keep seeking Him together!
Perhaps, go back and read Col 2:11-23 and we will look at that tomorrow?
What a Savior!
