LIGHT in the darkness

The house is still and dark.
No one else is up.

There’s nothing quite like the Christmas lights in the darkness.

I soak up this moment sitting by my tree.
….nothing quite like LIGHT in the darkness.

I’m drawn to it.

Are you?

Sitting in the stillness, I’m reminded of the words from Zechariah’s holy prophecy, the Savior came “to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death,”(Luke 1:79).

And I wonder if that is why our hearts are so enamored with Christmas lights in the dark.

Yet the darkness humanity faced is not the peaceful darkness of a quiet morning, but the terrible darkness of death.

Until the Light came.

Just as the prophet Isaiah had said, “The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness on them a light has shone.” (Isa 9:2).

The Messiah came.
The light shone.

Glorious light pierced through the darkness in the form of a babe; to be the horn of our salvation. (Luke 1:69).

The people who heard Zechariah utter these powerful prophetic words, would have recognized that horn as a mighty weapon; for long ago, horns from animals were used in battle.

The light, our horn of salvation, came to defeat death.

My death.
Your death.
Defeated.

Life offered to those who run to the Light!!
Jesus is the Light!

May EVERY Christmas light we put up and every light we see cause my heart and your heart to truly praise the salvation won by the Light of the World!

We have so much to CELEBRATE!
