Will you be able to stand?

Right now, we are seeing the winds of hard days and our “cancel culture” blowing away those who aren’t planted with deep roots in biblical truth.

Psalm 1 compares those who follow God to a strong tree planted by rivers of refreshing water and goes on to say, “The ungodly are not so, but are like the chaff which the wind drives away.” (Psalm 1:4)

The ungodly aren’t standing strong (1:3) but are like chaff easily blown away by the wind.

We are seeing “this blowing away” in the compromising of Scripture by many and by some of our “celebrity Christians”.

These people are falling away from biblical truth. They are promoting what feels right to them rather than holding true to the ways of the Lord.

They may have appeared as solid believers when it was politically correct and easy to do so, but now that the heat is turned up, they are doing what feels right in their own eyes.

Psalms 1, goes on to say, “Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous, (Psalm 1:5)

When the hard days come, the ungodly won’t be able to stand for truth. Those who choose their own, “seems right to them”, ways over God’s ways will eventually suffer the consequences. They will fall apart.

What’s more, in the day of judgment, the ungodly won’t be able to stand for they will be found lacking. God is not truly their Lord and their rock, He is only their “go to” when it’s convenient and suits their agenda. The ungodly have certainly never truly surrendered all their lives to Christ.

But the righteous… Those made righteous by the blood of the Lamb, those who call Jesus “Lord” and deny themselves and follow Him—they will be blessed.

“For the Lord knows the way of the righteous” (Psalm 1:6).

He is intimately involved in the way of the righteous. He will never leave them or forsake them.

“But the way of the ungodly will perish.” (Psalm 1:6).

Choose this day whom you will serve. You really can trust Jesus more than you trust you. His ways may not always be the easy way, but they are always the better way. He knows the way we take and He has us. ❤️
