Some days the love of Christ seems so far away.

Some days it feels like the love of Christ is a thing to be experienced later, a Heaven thing, a later on, a not-soon-enough, far away thing.

I catch myself longing for what, in truth, I already have and have all the time as a Christian.

I already have the love of Christ. I possess it. His love is with me this very second and in everything I will ever face.

But this life has a way of clouding our vision of this truth.

Sometimes, even this Monday of this Holy Week, we don’t always feel what we know to be true about our faith.

Paul talked about tribulation, distress, persecution, famine, nakedness, danger, and sword.

We may not experience all those same things, but we see and feel the effects of hard things like this pandemic, cancer, dementia, financial peril, prodigal kids, demanding bosses, and, even things like traffic jams, grumpy spouses, and laundry can mess with our “feeling-the-love-of-Christ barometers”.

But, the truth is, just because we don’t feel it, or immediately recognize the love of Christ in our circumstances; it is still there!

It’s always there! And no one can take it from those who know Jesus as Savior! By faith we know this!

And God used Paul to remind us of truth and help us walk forward in faith.

“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?” (Rom 8:35)

We often read that “who” part and think only of other people when it comes to “separating us” from the love of Christ.

But the glorious truth is, we can’t even separate ourselves from the love of Christ!

Our feelings, our bad moods, our hard days, even our sin failures can’t separate us from the amazing love of Christ!

Simply put, just because I may not feel something every single second doesn’t mean it isn’t always true.

Paul goes on to say, “No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us” (V 37)

Note- Paul doesn’t say, “we WILL BE more than conquerors”. Paul, inspired by God, emphatically says, “ WE ARE more than conquerors”.

As believers, we already are. In this moment, regardless of the circumstances we face, or how we feel; we stand in the place of victory! More than conquerors!

How? Not because we manage to work up some feeling! But “through Him” who is the way, the truth and the life!

Once again….it’s all because of Jesus! Because of the powerful love of Christ and what He did on the Cross!

In case we still aren’t getting it, Paul goes on to say, “For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.(v38-39)

Nothing shall separate us.

Because the One who loves us, He has defeated all these things on the Cross!

This Holy Week, as we focus on the Cross, may we remember, His body broken for us, His blood shed for us, His unending love was poured out for us, and for those who call Him Lord ….nothing can separate us from that love!

Because He lives! Because He always loves me! Because that love is supernaturally powerful and eternal, I can face this day and all the tomorrows knowing nothing can separate me from the amazing love of the Savior!

And that’s powerful truth that grows my faith and impacts my feelings!

I so appreciate your prayers as I study and write. May God alone be glorified!
