A guest post from my friend Mitzie Waldron Wheeler This is powerful and true. Read it. Share it.
Kirk Cameron shared John Lennon’s song “Imagine” on his FB live American Campfire Revival. Read the lyrics and think on it. Can you imagine a world like this?
Imagine there’s no heaven
It’s easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people living for today
Imagine there’s no countries
It isn’t hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people living life in peace, you
You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope some day you’ll join us
And the world will be as one
Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people sharing all the world, you
You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope some day you’ll join us
And the world will be as one
The world described in this song, as appealing as John Lennon tries to make it sound, is not a world I dream of. This world is absent of God, absent of hope, absent of purpose and would NEVER bring peace or unity.
John Lennon himself died at the hands of someone else because a world without God and His Laws is a world led by man and his laws.
And a world without God is chaos, destruction and death.
There are many who think the Bible has no relevance today. There are many who believe the government is the solution to all our woes so let’s do away with all religion because the heart of every religion has some other authority which, they believe, is a threat to government.
God actually designed government to work under His authority to bring blessing to the people.
But our government is establishing itself as its own god having all authority over the people, disregarding the Bible, and the God of our forefathers.
What a slippery slope we are on.
This country was founded on Judeo-Christian beliefs with the Ten Commandments as its roots.
Not all our forefathers were Christians, but they still used the Bible and biblical principles as a basis for founding our nation.
But more and more we see our nation running away from the core beliefs upon which it was, indeed, founded.
If the Ten Commandments and the Bible are seen as having no relevance, then why are both seen as such a threat?
Why try to get rid of or silence them?
And this is happening at a record pace!
The first place this happened was in our schools. Take away the idea of a biblical authority and all knowledge of it. Take away prayer. Take away the displaying of the Ten Commandments. Take away a teacher’s or coach’s freedom to speak about the One true God, and we have generations who will grow up not knowing their real roots, their real history and their Creator.
Instead, we’ve put before our children all options, all beliefs, and let them choose, while at the core of it we celebrate a government without God as having the ultimate authority. It has worked so well hasn’t it? Ha! Just look where we are.
The things that are being put before our children are abominable.
All through history Satan has worked so hard to erase a belief in the One True God because the God of the Ten Commandments is the God who has ALL authority over heaven and earth.
Satan wants you to believe that you can be your own god.
And isn’t that at the heart of man? If we truly examine ourselves, isn’t that what we want? To live our way, to do what we want, without any regard to another authority?
The irony of all of this is that a life that puts God at the helm is a life of freedom not bondage.
But a life with man at the helm is a life that enslaves. Because man thrives on power and control over other men. True leadership happens with great humility. Tyranny knows nothing of humility but seeks to gain more power. Satan is a master deceiver.
The world in John Lennon’s song does not exist nor will it ever. Because there is a heaven. There is a hell. And there is a God. The one true God. The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. One day each of us will stand before Him and answer for the choices we have made.
Jesus said in Luke 4:18
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me,
Because He has anointed Me
To preach the gospel to the poor;
He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to the captives
And recovery of sight to the blind,
To set at liberty those who are oppressed”
Having Jesus at the helm of my life is a far better plan.
Great article.😊 Definitely one to share.
