When you see demonic forces winning…

Paul is talking about the end of days when he suddenly brings up the two magicians with demonic powers who challenged Moses.(2 Tim 3:8-9)

Jannes and Jambres were able to turn a rod into a serpent, change water to blood, and bring about a plague of frogs; but in the end, their dark powers were no match to the power of God.(Ex 7-8)

Likewise, Paul wants us to know, those who resist the truth today and in the end days, those who are empowered by evil forces, will achieve some things that look like “wins”; but they will only be able to go so far and their folly will eventually be evident to all. (2 Tim 3:9)

Yes, evil is at work around us with real demonic power.

Remember, God tells us our battle is not “against flesh and blood but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” (Eph 6:12)

But our God is stronger! Victory is His! (John 16:33)

I know this.

But, I need to remember this and when I do, I want to shout HALLELUJAH!

And I especially need to remember, though we will certainly suffer persecution for our desire to live a godly life (2 Tim 3:12), and that evil men and imposters will grow worse deceiving and being deceived (2 Tim 3:13) we are to “continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them, and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.”(2 Tim 3:14-15)

Oh friends, we have to keep on walking in the truth we know! Yes, I see the enemy winning some battles, rearing his ugly head, but his time is short.

Let’s don’t miss Paul’s encouragement to hold on, even when the evil one seems to be displaying his power, because our God is greater and shall prevail!

And how do we hold on? What does that look like in the day to day? Paul is about to tell us how we can be equipped, “ thoroughly equipped” in fact, for every good work.

Oh, the Word is good! What a Savior!
