Nothing to FEAR

Take a slow read of these words the Apostle Paul penned so very long ago. May we take them to heart in this day.

May we not live in fear, but be warned and so very careful about who we allow to speak into our lives –

“If anyone
teaches otherwise
and does not consent
to wholesome words,
even the words of
our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which accords with godliness,

He is proud,
knowing nothing,
but is obsessed with disputes and arguments over words,
from which come
envy,
strife,
reviling,
evil suspicions,
useless wranglings of men of corrupt minds and
destitute of the truth, who suppose that godliness is a means of gain.

From such
withdraw yourself.
(1 Tim 6:3-5)

Withdraw yourself from false teachers who teach based on what feels right to them, what is popular, and what culture approves in order to gain followers, money, and influence.

Oh, how these people abound and are celebrated in our culture, while truth-tellers are maligned more than ever in our world.

As I was writing these words, my son Ben, sent the verse below and his thoughts from his morning reading. I don’t think it is a coincidence!

“But these people blaspheme all that they do not understand, and they are destroyed by all that they, like unreasoning animals, understand instinctively.” ‭‭Jude‬ ‭1:10‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Ben went on to say, “Remember that unsaved people, and even those who are saved, tendency is to understand and believe things through the lens of sin. Our flesh is fallen and this explains why people do and believe what they do so easily.”

Ben said,”We are blessed beyond belief to have the Bible to run to and receive correction and right thinking! It’s so sad to think about those who don’t have the Lord and the Word of God daily! Let’s push harder during this time with the goal of helping others see Jesus above any political belief or desire!”

Amen, Ben.
Amen, to the truth of the Word.

May we test EVERYTHING and hold on to the good (I Thess 5:21) May we know and speak truth with gentleness and respect. (1 Pet 3:15).

Let’s do this for us but also for others.

Why?

Because those who live their lives based on what feels right, and often goes against the Word of God, will be destroyed. (read the Jude verse again that Ben sent).

Oh friend, let’s hold tight to the truth. Let’s buckle our seat belts. These days may get hard, but we stand on solid rock when we live according to the Word of God.

“Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you heard was coming and now is in the world already. Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. They are from the world; therefore they speak from the world, and the world listens to them. We are from God. Whoever knows God listens to us; whoever is not from God does not listen to us. By this we know the Spirit of truth and the spirit of error. (1John 1:1-6)

We know the way to take! We have nothing to fear.
