The book of Daniel ends with the description of a great battle (The Battle of Armageddon), graves being emptied, dead men walking, and the great angel, Michael, defending Israel.
God’s people are delivered-“every one who is found written in the book” (Dan 12:1) …. but for others, there is shame and everlasting contempt.
Daniel says, “Although I heard, I did not understand.” (12:8)
God had revealed so much to Daniel and allowed him to interpret much of what he had seen in the visions.
But God didn’t explain everything.
Clearly, there are some things that God chooses to leave as a mystery.
Then Daniel, asks the question that is likely on all our minds,”what shall be the end of these things?” (Dan 12:8)
And I want to know too! Hard things are coming, but when will they end? When will the evil one be put down forever?
And the angel said, “Go your way, Daniel, for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end.” (12:9)
It’s as if we are watching a favorite television show (except this is NOT fiction) and the words scroll across the screen…
“To be continued”….
It’s as if the angel said,
“It will make sense later…
Stop worrying about it….”
Then, like “scenes for next week“, but this story is completely true and will most certainly happen, the angel goes on to say, “Many shall be purified, made white, and refined, but the wicked shall do wickedly; and none of the wicked shall understand, but the wise shall understand. And from the time that the daily sacrifice is taken away, and the abomination of desolation is set up, there shall be one thousand two hundred and ninety days. Blessed is he who waits, and comes to the one thousand three hundred and thirty-five days. But you, go your way till the end; for you shall rest, and will arise to your inheritance at the end of the days.” (Dan 12:10-13)
There will come a time when the wise will understand this, but the wicked will not.
When those who follow God need to know, they will know what they need to know; but the wicked still won’t get it.
But what do Christians do until then?
We are to look for those birth pains (Matt 24:8), but we should also look at our own hearts.
Our strength will come as we resist the evil all around us; and seek to follow God with all our hearts, all our minds, and all our strength.
The closer we walk with the Lord, the more prepared we will be for the days ahead.
The more we take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ, refute the lies of the evil one, and in all our ways acknowledge Him, the straighter our paths will be.
And our ability to do this will come from spending time in REAL, daily relationship with Jesus.
As we pray, as we read our Bibles, and as we meet together and encourage one another, God will give us just what we need, when we need it,….because He IS FAITHFUL and He will DO IT! (1Thess 5:24)
May we remember these words of Daniel, and remind each other— “The people who know their God shall be strong and carry out great exploits! (Dan 11:32)
Oh, how I love this book of Daniel! Thanks to all who have studied with me!

P.S. – I won’t be posting for a little while as I take some time away to sit and listen to the Lord and ask Him to guide me in my next study. And remember this, if you have surrendered your life to Christ, and trust His blood to save you, you’ve got the Living Word and the Holy Spirit…that’s all you need to hear the voice of the One who loves you so very much and will sustain you no matter what the days bring. ❤️
As always, I appreciate and covet your prayers. To God, alone, be the GLORY!
