Vice President Vance said that after talking with Erika Kirk about the way Charlie treated her, he felt convicted to be a better husband.
Vance, his wife, his kids, and likely our country will be better off if he follows through.
This is truth, and truth that comes from forsaking our flesh-filled, emotional ways (sin) and following what God says to do in His Word.
This is the message of Charlie Kirk.
Did he talk about politics? Yes, but because he applied biblical truth to everything. (As we all should)
Charlie believed people and countries are better off when they walk in God’s ways instead of sin (as God defines sin in the Bible).
Countless people, not just J.D. Vance, have been inspired by Charlie Kirk to walk away from sin and in truth.
It’s time all of us find our voices and tell the truth that what God defines as sin hurts individuals, families and nations.
God, Himself, tells us that it is out of His kindness that He shows us sin that leads to repentance (Rom 2:4).
What the Bible (you should read it) defines as sin always hurts us and others. And when we walk away from sin, there is blessing for us and others.
However, we can’t muster the strength to do this on our own. The power to walk away from sin, and walk in truth, and inspire others comes from God in us, and that will only come from a saving relationship in Jesus—the gospel.
Charlie Kirk talked about the gospel and following Jesus just about everywhere he went. There are countless videos of him doing just that— https://youtube.com/shorts/M0qldFVYvQk?si=P5krrvNVpw4XD4p-
He shared about the change that happens when we follow Jesus as Lord of our lives.
As we all process the tragedy of Kirk’s assassination, we need to ask ourselves—Is Jesus the Lord of our lives, and are we telling others of the freedom that comes from following Him?
Do you have a heart that cares to keep the Word of God? Are you intentional to repent (turn from your sins) and walk in God’s better ways as defined in His Word?
If so, this is evidence of fellowship with God and salvation in your life —“But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him” (1 John 2:5)
If you don’t have a desire to keep God’s Word, you should question your relationship with Him. Is it real saving faith?
Spurgeon said, “The Christian no longer loves sin; it is the object of his sternest horror: he no longer regards it as a mere trifle, plays with it, or talks of it with unconcern… Sin is dejected in the Christian’s heart, though it is not ejected. Sin may enter the heart, and fight for dominion, but it cannot sit upon the throne.”
Let me put it this way, we may step in sin as believers, but if we can walk in it as a habit or lifestyle then we may only have a head knowledge of Jesus Christ and not a saving relationship.
Sin should be as attractive to us as dog poop. We should not be happy to keep walking in it!
And this desire not to walk in sin, should compel us to seek the Lord and His ways with all our heart, mind and strength— and tell others about Him for our good and His glory!
Thats where blesding and freedom are truly found.
