Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? If anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, which temple you are.” (1 Cor 3:16-17)
If you are a Christian, you (fill in your name) are His temple.
Does that not shake you to the core? This is not a figure of speech. Those are not just words.
The King of the Universe, The Alpha and Omega, The Holy One of God lives inside of you! Right now, this minute… The HOLY SPIRIT is inside of you.
HE is God. He is not just some aloof, ghostly, figure of speech… He is the third part (and in no means a lesser part) of the HOLY Trinity.
Do your actions, your words, your thoughts, reflect this incredible truth? He is with you… do you live like you know that? Do you talk and think like you know that? Do you work like you know that? Do you daily seek to bring this God Who-is-in-you glory?
Is there anything holding you back? Anything? We are to examine ourselves routinely because sin is creeping at our door.
My door.
Your door.
King David wrote in the Psalms, “Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my anxieties;
And see if there is any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting”. (Psalms 139:23-24)
I want to be led in the way everlasting, don’t you?
And I don’t want anything to keep me from all God wants to do in and through me.
So, let us take a few moments and examine ourselves. Let’s truly prepare our hearts to celebrate Easter! Let’s remember all God has done in forgiving our sin and ask Him to show us any areas where we may be allowing sin to creep in.
Let’s do this to prepare our hearts to truly celebrate Easter, but let’s also get in the habit of routinely asking the Lord to show us anything, absolutely anything, that is keeping us from all He wants for us and all He wants to do in and through us.
He’s a good, good Father and it is always out of His kindness that He shows us sin that leads to repentance (Rom 2:4).
Here’s something I wrote a while back that you may find helpful,https://kimjaggers.com/2021/03/20/a-time-of-personal-reflection-and-confession-as-we-approach-easter/
It’s not an easy exercise, but anytime we run to our Father and ask Him to help us see our sin, He is faithful to equip us to walk away from it. This I know and have seen! (Anybody else?)
Oh, how Jesus loves us! He died for us! Surely we can trust Him to examine our lives and complete the good work He has started in us! (Phil 1:6)
May we love, trust, and follow Him more each and every day—for our good and His glory!
